Lowe's Motor Speedway Promotes Scott Cooper To Director of Marketing and Public Relations

Scott Cooper has been promoted to the newly created position of director of marketing and public relations for Lowe's Motor Speedway. The promotion is part of a restructuring which merges the speedway's marketing initiatives into the public relations department. Cooper had been senior manager of promotion and media relations since joining the speedway in 1999.

"The restructuring brings our advertising, marketing and promotion together and Scott is the ideal person to oversee this very important part of our business," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "Scott has proven to be a very creative and effective manager who will take our marketing and promotion to the next level."

In his new position, Cooper, 37, will oversee the speedway's advertising, direct marketing and promotional efforts. He will also implement and manage an electronic-marketing campaign; serve as the company's primary liaison with its advertising agency; and continue to assist with selected public relations duties. Cooper will continue to report to Jerry Gappens, whose title has changed to vice president of marketing and public relations.

Prior to joining the speedway, Cooper supervised production and personnel for the sports department of Charlotte television station WBTV. As executive sports producer, Cooper acted as managing editor for daily sportscasts and produced special programming on NCAA basketball, NASCAR and high school football. During his tenure, the station earned Emmy awards for Outstanding Sportscast and Best Sports Special. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Cooper resides in Charlotte with his wife Susan and their two children.

Lowe's Motor Speedway is the flagship facility of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:TRK), a leading marketer and promoter of motorsports entertainment in the United States.
