Musgrave Takes Reigns of No. 2 Team ASE Dodge in 2005

Ultra Motorsports team owner Jim Smith has named veteran driver Ted Musgrave to drive the No. 2 Team ASE Dodge truck for the 2005 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

"Ted is one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR," said Smith. "His outstanding performance over the last few years kept Ted and Ultra Motorsports consistently in the hunt for the NCTS championship, in spite of a lack of cooperation from Lady Luck. For 2005, we're trying to change that luck by swapping numbers. I own the NCTS numbers 1, 2 and 7, and while the lucky 7 is tempting, I've decided to go with my sentimental favorite, old No. 2." Smith is one of the founders of the NCTS, and wants more than ever to sit at the head table at the awards banquet. "We think Ted and Gene Nead can win the championship in the No. 2 in 2005!" he said.

"Climbing into the No. 2 Team ASE Dodge to change our luck is worth a try," said Musgrave.  "Obviously, we work hard, have a darn good team and good equipment, but we still need a measure of good luck. I'm feeling great and can't wait for the season to get underway in Daytona. ASE is the longest consecutive sponsor running in the NCTS, and it's time we got Jimmy, ASE and Ron (ASE president) the championship!"
