Raybestos® Rookie News and Notes
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

  • Brandon Whitt was the Raybestos® Rookie of the Race at the Chevy Silverado 150 at Phoenix International Raceway.  Whitt took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the third time this season.
  • David Reutimann maintains a 48-point edge over Tracy Hines in the Raybestos® Rookie standings (211-165) entering the Craftsman 200 at Darlington Raceway.
  • DID YOU KNOW?  A Raybestos® Rookie has won at least one race in each of the past four seasons, dating back to Kurt Busch in 2000.  In fact, four Raybestos® Rookies have posted multiple win seasons: Kenny Irwin (two, 1997), Busch (four, 2000), Brendan Gaughan (two, 2002), and Carl Edwards (three, 2003).

RAYBESTOS® ROOKIES AT DARLINGTON

  • Randy Briggs was the Raybestos® Rookie of the Race in the 2003 Craftsman  200 at Darlington Raceway, coming away with a 13th-place finish.
  • The best finish by a Raybestos® Rookie in three Craftsman Truck Series races at Darlington is sixth by Travis Kvapil in 2001.
  • The most Raybestos® Rookies to finish inside the top-10 in a race at Darlington is four in the 2001 race: Kvapil, Matt Crafton (eighth), Billy Bigley (ninth), and Nathan Haseleu (10th).
  • Only one Raybestos® Rookie has led a lap in three races at Darlington: Matt Crafton.  Crafton led once for four laps in the 2001 race.
  • The best qualifying run by a Raybestos® Rookie at Darlington is second by Ricky Hendrick in 2001.
  • Entering the race at Darlington, Reutimann has led the most laps of any Raybestos® Rookie this season.  He has led five times in four races for 37 laps (62.97 miles).  Other Raybestos® Rookies to lead a lap this season: Shane Sieg (twice in two races for 2.83 miles) and Tracy Hines (once in one race for two laps, 2.50 miles).
  • Reutimann is 15th in Craftsman Truck Series points, 13 behind 14th-place Jon Wood.  He leads 16th-place Terry Cook by 59 points.
  • Reutimann won his first career Bud Pole at the Easy Care 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  The pole came in just his second career start and marks the second consecutive season a Raybestos® Rookie has won a pole.  Reutimann becomes the second driver for Darrell Waltrip Motorsports to win a pole, joining Rich Bickle who took the top starting spot at Martinsville Speedway in 1997.
  • Joining Reutimann on the front row at Atlanta was fellow Raybestos® Rookie Robert Huffman.  The Atlanta race was the first time in the history of the Craftsman Truck Series that two Raybestos® Rookies have started from the front row.
  • This is the second consecutive season a female driver has competed for Raybestos® Rookie of the Year in the Craftsman Truck Series.  A full schedule is planned for Kelly Sutton who will drive the Team Copaxone Chevrolet.  Tina Gordon competed for top rookie honors one year ago.
