| Parker, Jr. Slides to 21st Place at Las Vegas 09-28-2004 | TruckSeries.com Report
Hank Parker, Jr. started the Las Vegas 350 in the fifth position on the starting grid and would stay around the top ten for most of the race. Taking the caution flag at lap 77, Hank would bring his Toyota Tundra into the pits on lap 78 for four tires, fuel, and adjustments. During the next two laps under caution, the team calculated that they would have just enough fuel to make it to the end of the race if they topped off with fuel on lap 81 while still under caution. Hank brought his truck down pit road and Mark Lawing (Gasman) packed it full of fuel and he was on his way. The strategy was working, as Hank was able to stay out on the track while others pitted under caution on lap 104. Restarting 12th on lap 107, Hank would soon find himself fighting an extremely loose handling racetruck. “This thing is just evil loose,” Parker, Jr. radioed on lap 112. “I am sliding all over.” Fighting the ill handling racetruck to the end of the race, Hank brought home a hard fought 21st place finish. “We had a good truck tonight at the beginning of the race. The crew had the setup right on,” Parker, Jr. said. “The tires just gave out there at the end, and I had to really fight it just to keep it off the walls.” Hank and the No. 21 AirVest Toyota return to the track on October 2, 2004, at California Speedway. Live television coverage will be on Speed Channel, with radio coverage on the MRN Affiliates and XM Satellite Radio.
