Stewart Looking for Richmond Three-Peat in No. 47 Silverado All Stars Chevy

A trip to victory lane Thursday night at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) in the No. 47 Acxiom Chevy Celebrity All Stars Silverado, would add another “first” to Tony Stewart’s already impressive NASCAR resume. By winning the Kroger 200 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS), Stewart would be the first driver to win the September event three consecutive years.

Stewart has a history of “firsts” at RIR.  His first NASCAR Nextel Cup win came at the Virginia oval in September 1999.  His first NCTS win came at RIR in September 2002 so the odds are in the favor of the 2002 NASCAR Cup champion.

"It's going to be a lot of fun,” said Stewart.  “Because we're not worried about point standings or anything like that, I'm running this race for the fun of it.  I just want to go out and have a good time and not worry about points for a night.  I've always enjoyed racing at Richmond, so I'm just looking forward to getting another race - and hopefully another win - under my belt there."

Stewart is the third of seven “All Star” drivers to pilot the No. 47 Silverado as part of the Chevy Silverado Celebrity All Stars Team fielded by Morgan Dollar Motorsports.  The program NASCAR Nextel Cup Monte Carlo stars with musical celebrities for one NCTS event.  Stewart’s partner will be Sara Evans with a paint scheme promoting her new album, Restless. The All Stars debuted at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 21 with Michael Waltrip in the driver’s seat of the No. 47 with Sheryl Crow on the hood followed by Robby Gordon with George Thorogood on August 25 at Bristol Motor Speedway.  Both Waltrip and Gordon scored top-five finishes.

NASCAR veteran Randy Goss will crew chief Stewart and the No. 47 Acxiom Silverado at Richmond.  Goss has an impressive record including championship-winning efforts in both the NCTS and NBS with driver Greg Biffle.

“We really had a truck capable of winning at Charlotte,” said Goss.  “Michael (Waltrip) drove the wheels off the No. 47 Silverado.  We just had that late race incident that took us out of contention. We had the same formula for Robby (Gordon) at Bristol and he brought us home a solid fourth place finish.

“Tony definitely knows his way around Richmond. It is going to be an awesome experience for our team to work with him.  I feel like the package we have will make us a serious contender to take a trip to victory lane.”

Serving as primary sponsor of the #47 Chevy All-Stars Silverado is Acxiom, a worldwide data services company. Acxiom has been partnered with Morgan Dollar Motorsports since 1998 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Following Stewart/Sara Evans at Richmond in the No. 47 Silverado will be Ricky Craven/Lee Ann Rimes, New Hampshire (September 18); Bobby Labonte/Josh Turner, Martinsville (October 23); Ron Hornaday Jr./Big & Rich, Phoenix (November 5); and Ward Burton/Joe Nichols, Darlington (November 12).
