NASCAR Digital Entertainment to Test Kangaroo TVUnique Handheld Broadcasting Device to be Deployed At Seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Events this Season.

NASCAR Digital Entertainment and Kangaroo Capital, in cooperation with SPEED Channel and seven NASCAR tracks, announce the testing of Kangaroo.TV™, a new and unique at-track, hand-held, multi-media experience for fans.

At seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events during the remainder of the 2004 season, the Kangaroo.TV device will carry SPEED Channel’s live television coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, live in-truck video feeds, live team audio communications, an electronic version of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series media guide, and live timing and scoring data. Fans may also activate a “favorite driver” function that coordinates live timing and scoring data and in-car communication for a specific team.

The first test of Kangaroo.TV at a NASCAR event will take place on Thursday,

Sept. 9 during the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 200 at Richmond International Raceway, in Richmond, Va.

“We’re committed to helping the tracks innovate and provide an enhanced racing experience for NASCAR fans, and this trial with Kangaroo.TV is another step in that direction,” said Jeffrey Pollack, managing director of broadcasting and new media, NASCAR Digital Entertainment. “We’re at a preliminary stage, but we’re confident this type of device will bring fans closer to the action and increase exposure for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.”

“We are thrilled that NASCAR, a dynamic organization that is focused on improving the experience of its fan base, sees the unique potential of our product. This agreement with NASCAR Digital Entertainment fits our current rollout strategy to enlist major series-type sports events across North America in offering fans, promoters and sponsors the benefits of this powerful new media,” said Marc Arseneau, CEO of Kangaroo Capital.

The first three NASCAR scheduled trials for Kangaroo.TV will be as follows:

  • Sept. 9 – NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 200, Richmond International Raceway, Richmond, Va.
  • Sept. 18 – New Hampshire 200, New Hampshire International Speedway, Loudon, N.H.
  • Sept. 25 – Las Vegas 350, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, Nev.

SPEED Channel is the exclusive home of NASCAR TV and broadcasts exclusive coverage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, one of the premier racing series in North America.

The Kangaroo.TV device is an ergonomic, lightweight unit which offers a full color high resolution no glare screen allowing at-track real-time delivery of video, audio and data during race events.  It will bring the NASCAR fans experience to a new level. Further details on the Kangaroo.TV system are available at www.kangaroo.tv.
