Strategy, Not Here: “There is not much strategy at Bristol.  We don't have happy hour there because it is a one-day show, so we'll have two hours of practice and that's it.  If you aren't fast off the trailer, there's not a lot of chance you're going to get it fixed.  It's not a very long race, because at 16 seconds per lap, 200 laps go by pretty quick.  The biggest thing for me is to make sure I am mentally prepared.  Things happen so fast there you don't have a lot of time to think about it, you have to rely on instinct.”

Pit Road Counts: “The Dickies Racing Team has really stepped up its pit stop program.  We made up some spots in Nashville on pit road and they were fired up about it.  Bristol is one of those tracks that pit stops can make or break you.  If you enter pit road in the top ten, and then have a bad stop, you can go out in 15th.  That can kill you on a half-mile oval.  If you make up spots then you are in the best seat in the house.  Pit stops are critical at a short track, so hopefully our team will really be on its game.”

Future Aspirations: “I love racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. It’s a great balance of competition and racing. I don’t believe I’ll be going Nextel Cup racing. I am 36 years old and no one is going to call me with a good ride. I want to be the best NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver I can be. I enjoy winning races and running in the top five every week. My goal is to be a contender for the championship. If I got a chance to go Busch racing I probably would consider it because the money is a little better in Busch, but that is just from a financial standpoint. Once again it would have to be a promising ride. I don’t think there is a better place I could be than right here at BHR. We are the class of the field every week and have won a total of six races this year. That has never been done before at our organization.  I am glad to be a part of it.” 

Notes:

- Chaffin is racing Angel this week at Bristol.  The Tennessee driver drove this truck to his first career NCTS win in Dover.

- Chaffin’s 12th place finish last week in Nashville moved him to a career-high third in the NCTS point standings.  It was his 10th consecutive top-15 finish.  

- Chad finished 7th in last year’s O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway.      

Balancing Act: “The number one thing I do at home with my kids is to have fun with them. Our schedule causes us to be out of town a lot and my kids usually don’t travel with us to the races. When I am at home I try to spend quality time with each of my three kids. This past summer both my boys played baseball. It seemed liked every day I was at home we were going to a game or a practice. It was fun to see them mature in their talents. One of my boys really enjoys fishing and I take him fishing a couple times a month. That gives us some quality time together. We go to church as a family and that helps brings us closer to one another. Cindy and I love for everyone to go out to eat and to the movies as a family. It’s really not that hard to balance racing and family because it becomes a way of life.”
