Rolling off the starting grid in the seventh position, Robert Huffman would stay inside the top-10 for most of the race earning an eighth place finish, and picking up Rookie of the Race Honors, in the Toyota Tundra 200.
On lap 23, Robert radioed the crew that the truck was tight in the middle and loose off. Crew chief, Rick Gay responded, “We’ll get you fixed up when you come in here. Just keep driving hard. Keep digging, you’re doing good.” Maintaining his seventh place position, Robert brought his truck to the pits under caution at lap 40 for four fresh tires, fuel, and a wedge adjustment.
Taking the caution at lap 56 in eighth position, Robert radioed the crew that, “It’s still tight in the center but we’re alright. We’ve got us a good truck here. The important thing is to be around at the end.”
Pitting under caution on lap 86, the IMI crew made a wedge adjustment, added fuel, and bolted on four new tires to the No. 12 Toyota Tundra, sending Huffman out two spots better in eighth.
Robert held on to his spot and took the checkers in eighth place, earning him his third top-10 finish of the season and Rookie of the Race Honors.
“The truck was just too tight to get around them at the end,” Huffman said. “My pit crew picked me up two spots on our last pit stop and that was important.” Robert continued, “I’m pretty happy with our day. This is our best finish this year, and I feel like our team is really starting to come together.”
