NASCAR young gun, David Ragan may have surprised some with his performance this past weekend in Kentucky, but some always knew that Ragan had what it took.

However, the weekend didn't start off on a good note. David backed his No. 88 Palm Beach Grading, Mike Edge powered ARCA RE/MAX ride in the fence in turn three. Ragan’s ARCA crew went to work immediately and got the car fixed in time for David to make a few more laps in the only practice of the day for the ARCA series.

Soon after the ARCA practice ended the rains came. It stayed for a while. Both the ARCA and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series qualifying sessions were rained out. Both of the Friday truck practices were also cancelled.  Due to the rain David would line up 35th for the now Saturday scheduled ARCA race and would line up 23rd (based on 2004 series owner points) for the truck race that same night.

Saturday morning mother nature was on the racers side. David was able to get two hour-long practices in his Fiddle Back Racing No. 67 truck ride. David ended the day 23rd quickest overall. After his two practices in the truck, David made a mad dash to get into his Palm Beach Grading No. 88 for the ARCA race.

From his 35th starting position David wasted no time in moving up through the field. By lap 20 David had made his way into the top 15.  With the rains coming, car owner and crew chief Bobby Jones elected not to pit on an early caution when most of the leaders did pit for new tires and fuel. This would move David into the top ten. By the halfway point David was in the third position. On lap 65 of the 100-lap race the raindrops started falling from the sky. On lap 67 the ARCA officials decided to throw the red flag for rain and would call the race a short time later. David would wide up second in the final standings, an ARCA career best due to the No. 44 (Brent Sherman) car running out of gas between the time the yellow came out for rain and the time the officials threw the red flag and called the race.

David’s second start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Fiddle Back Racing in the No. 67 Ford F-150 would be delayed due to the rain. The race was delayed about an hour and a half. David, along with the other drivers really had to be cautious due to the green race track when the green flag finally flew around 9:30pm.

The race went green for over 40 laps before the second caution flew. David received the "Lucky Dog" pass under this caution. The No. 67 was the top running truck one lap down when the caution flew. David brought the truck in for four new tires and fuel. The Fiddle Back Racing pit crew sent David back onto the track in the 20th position with a great pit stop.  The race would go green again for a while before the next caution would fly.  David again brought the No. 67 Ford down pit road for four tries and fuel.

The Fiddle Back Racing crew pulled off another great pit stop.  David drove a great race and brought the Fiddle Back Racing No. 67 home in the 19th position and with all the fenders still attached.  "We had a good run today in the Fiddle Back Racing Ford F-150. Gary and the pit crew did a great job. I am really looking forward to Gateway next week. I believe that after a couple of weeks of me learning what Gary needs to know about the truck and Gary learning what I need in a truck, we will be even more competitive on the track," stated Ragan.
