DRIVER: Carl Edwards  TRUCK OWNER: Jack Roush

EVENT: Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers Ram Tough 200
Gateway International Raceway - Madison, IL
Saturday, July 17, 2004 - 7:00 p.m. (CDT)
Qualifying: Friday, July 16, 2004 - 3:30 p.m. (CDT)
1.25-mile oval, 200 miles/160 laps
2003 Winner:  Brendan Gaughan

NOTES & QUOTES

  • Edwards will be racing chassis #27 at Gateway.  This truck previously raced at Martinsville, Dover and Milwaukee this season.
  • Although Edwards dropped one position in points to third, he is only 100 points out of first place.
  • Edwards considers Gateway his hometown track since he grew up in nearby Columbia, Mo. A trip that takes his family about two hours would only take Edwards about 47 minutes if he drove his No. 99 Superchips Ford F-150 on the 124-mile trip.

Carl Edwards on Gateway:
"We're taking our Milwaukee truck this weekend.  We felt like the truck was good there so we are going to start out with the same set-up and work from there.  We were running second at Milwaukee when I hit the wall with 45 laps to go, which resulted in the poor finish.

"We finished fourth at Gateway last year, which was my first race there in a Craftsman Truck.  We were pretty tight throughout the race last year, so if we can avoid that from the start we should be pretty good.  Gateway is an odd track so I don't think anybody has a ton of experience there.  It is kind of one of those one-off tracks that you can't really use notes from anywhere else that would help you.  I'm anxious to race there this weekend since I'll have a lot of friends and family members there.  I had a lot of people at the Kansas race a few weeks ago and I'm sure there will be just as many this weekend.  I hope we can win for them again."
