Steve Park Preview: Kentucky
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Kentucky is home to Orleans Racing associate sponsor Wyler.com. Wyler.com is the e-commerce division of the Jeff Wyler Automotive Family, one of America’s largest automobile dealership groups, with annual sales exceeding 26,000 units and approximately $600 million. Jeffrey L. Wyler, president and CEO, owns and operates 28 new vehicle franchises, five boat franchises and one motorcycle franchise in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Approximately 1,000 employees represent the dealerships, which sell and service vehicles produced by 15 different manufactures including Dodge. Recreational product lines include Suzuki motorcycles, as well as marine products by Celebrity, Stingray, Landau and Wellcraft Boats and personal watercraft by Yamaha.

Park has earned three top-10 finishes and two top-five finishes this season. He finished 10th at Texas and fourth at the past two races, Milwaukee and Kansas.  The primary Dodge for Kentucky is the 11 truck. It has been raced once, which was last week when Park finished fourth at Kansas.

Park will sign autographs July 8 from 8-9 p.m. at Jeff Wyler Dodge in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Park will sign autographs July 10 from 4-5 p.m. at the Dodge merchandise trailer trackside.

This will be Park’s first start at Kentucky, although he has tested there numerous times in a NEXTEL Cup car. This will be the third start for Orleans Racing at Kentucky and the 68th Craftsman Truck Series start for the team.

Park is 12th in points after 10 races. He finished 27th in Daytona, 12th in Atlanta, 26th in Martinsville, 27th in Mansfield, 12th in Charlotte, 13th in Dover, 10th at Texas, 11th at Memphis, fourth at Milwaukee and fourth at Kansas.

Crew chief Charlie Wilson and pit coordinator Brett Bergeron have been testing different crew members the past few races. They recently set the roster as follows: Jackman – Gary Brannon, Catch can – Craig Nemes, Gasman – Bill “Wingnut” Caldwell, Rear-tire changer – Lance Wilson, Rear-tire hanger – Clint Jennings, Front-tire changer – Harley Rauch, Front-tire hanger Danny Stockman.

PRE-RACE QUOTES FROM STEVE PARK: “I’ve been to Kentucky Speedway numerous times to test a NEXTEL Cup car, but I’ve never raced at the track. Coming off of two top-five finishes, I’m really looking forward to the race. We are bringing the same Dodge to Kentucky that we finished fourth with at Kansas. The Orleans Racing team has grown tremendously the last few weeks and will continue to grow and improve. This is a very important race for me and the team. Wyler.com is an important sponsor and they are based near Kentucky Speedway. We will have several guests from Wyler.com and Wyler’s Ft. Thomas Dodge to watch the race. This is the race we want to win. We want to win every week, but Kentucky would definitely be the place to score the first win of the season. With the races we have had the past few weeks, we are capable of putting the Orleans Dodge in victory lane this weekend.”
