Hmiel heads to Dover to Slay the “Monster Mile”

Shane Hmiel makes his return to Dover International Speedway.  Hmiel has tried to tame the “Monster Mile” competing at Dover three times prior in the NASCAR Busch Series.  “We’ve always run well here in the past but haven’t had great finishes.”   Hmiel had his best finish at Dover crossing the line 10th in the MBNA All-American Heroes 200 in his rookie season in the NASCAR Busch Series.  This will be his first time chasing the “Monster” in the #15 NASCAR Craftsman Truck. Hmiel is confident about his abilities to do well in the MBNA America 200, by using his prior Dover experience to run down the “Monster.”  “This is a track I really enjoy racing.  It’s totally fast and wide open,” Hmiel explained.

Hmiel feels driving the #15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevy Silverado will be the ticket to the top spot on race day.  “These Chevy’s we’ve gotten this year have been the best.  Chevrolet has committed extensive resources to the teams in our series.  I’ve always loved driving a Chevy racecar, but I’m having more fun than ever racing in these Silverado trucks.”

The #15 Billy Ballew Motorsports team has lost its sponsor, Earl Small’s Harley-Davidson, but they will be an associate sponsor for Dover.  Earl Small’s Harley-Davidson out of Marietta, Georgia has been the primary sponsor for the first 5 races.  He was scheduled to only be a two race sponsor but came back for a few more.  Hmiel said, “I have to thank Earl for everything he’s done for us.”  Hmiel is feels confident the team will find a sponsor and isn’t worried that the lack of sponsorship will affect the team’s performance.  “We came off a great weekend in Charlotte and plan on keeping the momentum going.  We are climbing up in points and that’s what we are racing for.  I can’t say enough about how supportive Billy Ballew has been and how hard Richie, Jerry, Duane, Tyler and the rest of the guys back at the shop have worked to keep this a top running Chevy.”

Coverage of the MBNA America 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Dover International Speedway is scheduled Friday, June 4th at 4:00 p.m. EST.   The 200-Lap event will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel and MRN Radio. Tickets are still available for the MDNA America 200 and may be purchased by calling (800) 441-RACE.
