Five Top-25 Toyotas At Lowe's
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

Five Toyota Tundras, led by Travis Kvapil's eighth-place, finished among the top-25 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race at Charlotte's Lowe's Motor Speedway. Following Kvapil across the finish line at the 1.5-mile speedway in Toyota Tundras were Mike Skinner (15th), Robert Huffman (16th), Bill Lester (21st) and Hank Parker Jr. (22nd).

Kvapil, the defending NCTS champion, earned his fourth top-15 finish of the season in the No. 24 Bang Racing Tundra. "We had a tough start to the weekend so I'm happy with our eighth-place finish," said Kvapil. "I feel like we had a truck that would finish in the top-five, but it just seemed like the top-10 guys were running the same speeds. We were a little bit better than a couple of guys right in front of us and I could run them down, but I couldn't get around them."

Huffman, driving the No. 12 Innovative Motorsports Tundra, recorded his best finish of the season and was the highest finishing rookie in the race. Despite a spin at the start of the race, Huffman was able to recover and finish just outside the top-15. "It was a terrible start," said Huffman. "The truck was really loose at the beginning of the race and I just lost it between Turns 3 and 4. It's disappointing because I think we had a top-10 truck and I would have liked to get a better finish."

En route to finishing 21st, Lester was able to pace the field in his No. 22 Bill Davis Racing Tundra for 19 laps. He led three laps early in the race (34-36) and then moved to the front of the field for 16 laps (73-88) later in the race. It made Lester the fourth Toyota driver to lead the field this season, joining Kvapil, Skinner and David Reutimann as race leaders.

After the first five NCTS races of the 2004 season, three Toyota drivers sit among the top-10 in the championship point standings. Skinner is sixth in the standings with 677 points and Kvapil is seventh with 673 points. Reutimann completes the trio of Tundra drivers among the top-10 with 631 points.

The next race on the NCTS schedule is Friday, June 4, at Dover (DE) International Speedway, beginning at 4:00 PM (EST).
