Kimmel Truckin' for some Charlotte Success
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

For the third time in the 2004 season, five-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion, Frank Kimmel will pilot the No. 29 K Automotive Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.  With two wins and four poles at the 1.5-mile Lowe’s Motor Speedway in his ARCA car, Kimmel hopes to bring much of his past success into this Friday’s Infineon 200.

“Charlotte is one of those race tracks that takes me awhile to get up to speed when we first unload,” said Kimmel.  “To look at some of the success that I’ve had at this race track in my ARCA car, you might find that hard to believe, but we always seem to struggle right off the truck.  But this is one of those race tracks that requires a lot of concentration because it can be pretty tricky.  While it hasn’t always been one of my favorite race tracks, I have done pretty well here winning two races and four poles.  I’m really looking forward to trying this track out in a truck versus a car because I know that will change some aspects of how this track is driven.”

This Friday’s Infineon 200 will mark Kimmel’s 12th career NCTS start and third of the 2004 season.  Kimmel battled at the front of the pack in Daytona at the first event of the season to finish eighth and experienced an oil intake problem at the second event of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he finished in the 30th position.  Brad, the youngest son of team owners, Bob and Kay Keselowski, has competed in his first two NCTS career events at Martinsville and Mansfield finishing 33rd and 16th respectively.

“I’m just really looking forward to getting back in the truck this weekend and running with the K Automotive team,” said Kimmel.  “The Keselowski’s are such wonderful people to work with that it is really a pleasure to come over here and have the chance to help them to showcase their talented organization.  Brad has done a great job in the first two races of his NCTS career and I feel like he will see a lot more success as the season progresses.  I know the K Automotive team is bringing another strong entry to this event and I just hope I can bring some past ARCA success to this NCTS race.”

The Infineon 200 will take the green flag at 9:00pm ET on Friday, May 21.  The race broadcast will begin live on Speed Channel at 8:30pm ET while live coverage on MRN Radio and XM Radio 144 will begin at 8:15pm ET.
