Infineon Technologies, the world's second-largest manufacturer of semiconductors used in vehicle electronics, has signed to sponsor the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Friday night, May 21, at Lowe's Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star weekend.

Sponsorship of the Infineon 200 is part of the company's long motorsports involvement. Through event and team sponsorships and its partnership with Infineon Raceway in Northern California, the company is successfully increasing name recognition and awareness among race fans and the general public.

Infineon's sponsorship also provides an opportunity to reinforce its commitment to support the community. Infineon is donating 1,000 Infineon 200 tickets to the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and the YMCA of the Triangle to provide a night of racing excitement for the constituents of these vital organizations.

"When Infineon opened its Eastern U.S. operations center in Cary, North Carolina last fall, we said we looked forward to building relationships with business and community leaders across the region," said Robert LeFort, president of Infineon Technologies North America Corp. "It is really exciting to be able to help the YMCAs in the greater Charlotte and Triangle communities, because they impact so many people's lives, and we are glad to support their valuable community development programs."

"Naturally we are pleased Infineon has chosen to expand its relationship with us through sponsorship of the Infineon 200," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "I guarantee you the Infineon 200 will be one of the most exciting races during Coca-Cola 600 Month activities."

Infineon Technologies is a global semiconductor company, providing semiconductor and system solutions for the automotive and industrial sectors, for applications in the wired communications markets and for secure mobile solutions as well as memory products.

In fiscal year 2003 (ending September), Infineon achieved sales of Euro 6.15 billion and employs approximately 33,600 people worldwide, with a workforce of approximately 2,800 in its U.S. operations, including US headquarters in San Jose, Calif., a major chip manufacturing plant in Richmond, Va.; an operations center in Cary/Research Triangle Area, N.C., and numerous R&D and sales offices. Infineon is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:IFX) and on the DAX index of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
