Habitat For Humanity Teaming Up With Square D Racing in Martinsville: A Habitat for Humanity logo will be on the TV panel of the Square D Dodge this weekend in Martinsville. It will be the first of several times Square D will be teaming up with Habitat for Humanity this season. For the past three years, Square D has been the sole supplier of electrical distribution equipment for Habitat homes. This year they are celebrating its partnership with Habitat and the milestone of supplying the 10,000 homes since 2001 with safe, quality Square D Brand load centers and circuit breakers.

"The work Square D is doing with Habitat for Humanity is vital," says Millard Fuller, founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International. "We are excited about including NASCAR in our Square D partnership to raise awareness about poverty housing, and we know that this relationship will help us continue to eliminate substandard housing."

New In-House Chassis: “This weekend we will be racing a new chassis that the team has developed at BHR. It’s a pretty neat deal because I’m a motorhead anyway. I think it’s cool when you build it from the ground up and we’re not having to buy stuff. We originally had all our stuff from Laughlin and had a new Hopkin’s truck. We got on the stick last year and decided to try on our own. We already ran our own front clips. Then we built one (chassis) and it turned out nice and went through tech good. Then we went to Homestead and really dominated the race all day. Then we built one for Atlanta and it ended up doing the same thing. We do everything in house, bodies, transmissions, chassis and gears, brake stuff, everything except the motors and that’s furnished by Dodge and Joey Arrington. So for somebody that started five years ago with a two-car garage behind the house, it feels pretty good.”

Notes: The truck Bobby is racing is a brand new Dodge Ram from the BHR stable. It is nicknamed Billy. The Tennessee native has lead over 1500 laps on the .526-mile oval in Nextel Cup and Craftsman Truck combined. Hamilton is credited with leading 165 laps last year on short tracks. He finished in the top 10 seven out of eight events. Hamilton claims one Craftsman Truck Series win (2000) and one pole starting position (1996) at Martinsville Speedway. What Do You Like And Dislike About Martinsville? “The thing I like is it makes you a better driver as far as being disciplined. You’re at a half-mile race track and they holler at you to take care of the brakes and don’t tear the nose up. How are you supposed to do that at a place like that? I like that kind of racing. It is a big challenge. What I don’t like is it’s the type of track that wears tires a lot and you can’t win it by staying out. A lot of times the fastest truck doesn’t win. The race I won there in the 4 car, I started on the pole and led most of the race. We lapped cars up to the top five. Most of the time pit strategy wins it. I don’t really like that on a short track. I like to see jam-up racing. Another thing I don’t like about it is the way they ground the race track surface. I had a good handle on it before they changed it. I think a real good race track sometimes needs to be left alone.”

Congrats: Congratulations to Jeff White for winning the Team ASE/CARQUEST Motorsports Technician of the Race for the Easy Care 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. $500 will be donated in Jeff's name to National Automotive Technician's Education Foundation (NATEF) from Team ASE and CARQUEST. White is the team engineer for BHR. He works closely with Dodge and its engineers to come up with new programs, chassis designs and ideas to ensure that BHR is on top of its game. He builds shocks for both the No. 4 and No. 18 teams on the NCTS circuit. By all accounts White is a team player and a key element in why Hamilton captured his first victory in 2004 in only his second start.
