Bodine to Come from 32nd in Florida Dodge Dealers 250 at Daytona
Geoff Bodine qualified the Team EJP Racing Chevrolet Silverado in the 32nd
position for the Florida Dodge Dealers 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event
at Daytona International Speedway. Bodine's quickest lap was 50.336 seconds,
which translates to 178.798 miles per hour on the 2.5-mile tri-oval. Terry Cook
won the pole for the event with a 49.008 second/183.643 mile per hour lap.
"While it's not what we were hoping for, it really is just a place to start,
especially here at Daytona," Bodine said after sweating out the final few
qualifiers. "Qualifying here is so different than racing here. Trucks that might
not be quick by themselves can suddenly become very competitive in the draft.
That was the situation with us, and we knew that coming in. We tested very well
in the draft down here, and we expect to be very good as soon as we go to race
trim tomorrow."
The NCTS will have two practice sessions on Thursday evening in preparation for
Friday's 100-lap event, which will be run under the lights for the first time.
The Florida Dodge Dealers 250 is the first event of the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series season, and can be seen live on Speed Channel starting at 8:00 P.M.
eastern time on Friday February 13. The race can also be heard live on
affiliates of the Motor Racing Network nationwide as well as XM Satellite Radio.
