Motown Hit Moves Crawford up the Charts 06-20-2006 11:01 am
Motown Hit Moves Crawford up the Charts Motown is known for the chart topping tunes of the 60's and the Circle Bar Team has been climbing the charts of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points standings over the last few weeks. Going into the Con-Way Freight 200 Rick Crawford and his Circle Bar Team had been hitting the high notes over the last few weeks and the sweet music they've produced put them in the top 10 last week and looking for more in Motown. Musgrave Snake Bit at Michigan 06-19-2006 5:37 pm
Bad luck found Musgrave at Michigan as he and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra Team were involved in an early race incident with the No. 15 truck of Kyle Krisiloff in Saturday's Con-Way Freight 200 at Michigan International Speedway to finish in the 23 rd spot.

East, No. 21 Ford Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 4:42 pm
Bobby East started a career-best third in the Con-Way Freight 200 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at Michigan International Speedway last Saturday and finished 30th. East's next race will be the Milwaukee 200 at The Milwaukee Mile on Friday.

Ambrose, No. 20 Ford Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 4:39 pm
Marcos Ambrose started a career-best second and finished 26th at the Con-Way Freight 200 last Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway. Ambrose has a unique sponsorship package with Team Australia and Aussie Vineyards before the race. Team Australia also is supported by RM Williams clothing, Tourism Australia and other progressive Australian brands.

Ragan, No. 50 team Finish 19th at Michigan 06-19-2006 2:35 pm

Ted Musgrave was challenging for a top-10 finish in the Con-way Freight 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon, but once again Lady Luck frowned on the No. 9 Team ASE Toyota, leaving the defending series champion with a damaged truck and relegating him to 23rd at the finish.

Johnny Benson claimed his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory by taking the win in the Con-way Freight 200 Saturday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway. Benson, from nearby Grand Rapids, Michigan, held back three-time 2006 Truck Series winner Mark Martin to become the 17th driver to pick up wins in all three nationally touring NASCAR series. Benson, driving the No. 23 Exide Batteries Toyota, delivered his first series win in his 60th series start.

Benson took over the lead from Mark Martin on lap 73, and was forced to endure three late-race cautions before securing the victory. With clean air out front, Benson was able to choose his line, and he decided to run the bottom, forcing runner-up finisher Martin to try to make the high groove work.  Former Michigan Cup Series winner Bobby Labonte piloted the No. 4 Dodge Motorsports Dodge to a third place finish, the best finish for a Dodge all season.

Todd Bodine survived a late-race scrape with Brendan Gaughan to make a charge through the top ten to come home fourth in the No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota.  Matt Crafton rounded out the top five finishers in the No. 88 Menards/Energizer Chevrolet, his second top five finish of 2006.  Rick Crawford was sixth in the No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford, Ron Hornaday was seventh in the No. 33 Kevin Harvick, Inc. Chevrolet, Dennis Setzer was eighth in the GM FlexFuel Chevrolet, Terry Cook ninth in the Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford, and Jack Sprague rounded out the top ten in the No. 60 Con-way Freight Toyota. Erik Darnell was the highest Raybestos Rookie finisher, coming across the line 12th in the No. 99 Woolrich Ford. Mike Skinner started on the pole but overheating problems sent him to the pits for an unscheduled stop, relegating him to eleventh at the finish in the No. 5 Toyota Tundra Toyota.

There were a record-tying 8 cautions for a track record 29 laps, with two significant incidents on the afternoon. Timothy Peters got loose in turn four on lap 74 and overcorrected, sending his truck head-on into the SAFER barriers. There was significant damage to the nose of the truck, but Peters was checked and released from the infield care center. The second major incident was on lap 97 as Martin Truex, Jr. lost a left rear tire in turn three and spun into the wall, collecting hard-luck Kerry Earnhardt in the process. The record number of cautions held the race pace down to just 116.534 miles per hour.

Skinner, No. 5 Toyota Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 11:59 am
After last week’s dominating performance at the Texas Motor Speedway, the No. 5 Toyota Tundra team headed to the Irish Hills in hopes of another strong performance. The team took the same truck which dominated the race in Texas and was hoping for the same result at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.

Lester, No. 22 Toyota Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 11:57 am
The 22 team headed to Michigan needing a strong finish. The team’s finishes in the 2006 season are not indicative of its performance and the team was hoping to turn its season around at the two-mile speedway in the Irish Hills. Bill Lester knew he was going to have a full weekend of racing ahead of him as he was also going to attempt to qualify for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race Notes: Michigan 06-19-2006 11:32 am
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race Notes: Michigan It would be unfair to call a seven-time winning crew chief a journeyman but Rick Ren, who quarterbacked Johnny Benson to victory on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway, has flown under the radar for most of the past four-plus seasons. Ren, a bespectacled, old-school style technician, hadn't visited Victory Lane since 2001 when Travis Kvapil won the Silverado 350 at Texas Motor Speedway. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Ren Selected WypAll Crew Chief of the Race at Michigan 06-19-2006 11:19 am
Ren Selected WypAll Crew Chief of the Race at Michigan Rick Ren kept his team in front of Mark Martin's No. 6 Scotts Ford to lead driver Johnny Benson to his first truck series victory in the Con-way Freight 200. This earned him his first weekly WypAll Wipers Crew Chief of the Race award presented by Fastenal. Three judges; including Dave Rodman with NASCAR.com, Tony Eury Sr., and a WypAll Wipers representative decided Rick Ren deserved Crew Chief of the Race honors. (Ronda Greer Photo)

Loose Truck Too Much for Moore at Michigan 06-19-2006 11:16 am
A surprisingly loose race truck proved too much for Ryan Moore and his Key Motorsports race team to cope with Saturday afternoon, leading to a disappointing 27th place finish in the Con-Way Freight 200, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and producing a disappointing debut for Moore as a Rookie-of-the-Year candidate.

Gaughan Survives for 16th at Michigan 06-19-2006 11:10 am
Considering how much progress the Orleans Racing team made during their two-day visit to Michigan International Speedway, Brendan Gaughan’s 16th place finish in the Con-way Freight 200 was a bitter pill to swallow. The instant Gaughan took to the 2.0-mile track in the first practice session he knew he was in for a challenging weekend. An evil vibration had the Las Vegas native hanging onto the steering wheel for dear life and it was all he could do just to bring it back to the garage in once piece.

Kraig Kinser "Halfway" Happy With Michigan Finish 06-19-2006 10:58 am
Kraig Kinser brought the No. 46 U.S. Army Silverado to the checkered flag in 22nd place in the Con-Way Freight 200 at Michigan International Speedway. But the Raybestos Rookie was only "halfway" happy with is lead lap finish.

Benson Scores Popular Victory at Michigan 06-19-2006 10:24 am
Benson Scores Popular Victory at Michigan Upside-down is no place for a former NASCAR Busch Series champion to be - especially at the track he co-owns near his hometown. But that's where Johnny Benson found himself at midweek after his late model collided with a tire barrier at Berlin Speedway. He was unhurt except for an ego bruised before a hometown crowd. On Saturday, Benson completed the cycle of embarrassment to Victory Lane as he held off a charging Mark Martin to win Michigan International Speedway's Con-way Freight 200 and in the process record his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win. Benson, driving Bill Davis Racing's Exide Batteries Toyota, took the lead from Martin on the 73 of what turned out to be 102 laps around the 2.0-mile superspeedway, two laps added to the scheduled distance by the race's eighth caution, and held the point the rest of the way. Ambrose Qualifies Second - Finishes 26th at Michigan 06-19-2006 12:59 am
Team Australia’s Marcos Ambrose continued to add to his list of “firsts” in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck career when he started today’s Michigan 200 from the front row. Ambrose qualified second behind Mike Skinner after showing tremendous speed in his Team Australia/Aussie Vineyards Ford F-150 truck.

Labonte Scores First Top-Five Finish For Dodge 06-19-2006 12:48 am
In his first NCTS start this season NASCAR Nextel Cup Driver Bobby Labonte scored Dodge’s and Bobby Hamilton Racing’s first top-five finish of the season in the Con-Way Freight 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Labonte qualified his Dodge Motorsports Dodge in the seventh position earlier in the day and took the lead from Mark Martin on lap 40.

Sprague Motors to Another Top-10 at Michigan 06-19-2006 12:41 am
To be his hometown track, Michigan International Speedway has never been exactly kind to Jack Sprague. In four starts prior to this weekend, Sprague had captured two top-10 finishes and still admitted to being confused about where he should run on the wide, multi-grooved track. But this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, Sprague hoped it would be different as the sponsor of his truck was also the title race sponsor.

Cook, No. 10 Ford Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 12:38 am
Ford Power Stroke Diesel by International driver Terry Cook made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS) debut right here at The Milwaukee Mile (TMM) in 1996. Cook has since made 225 starts, 208 consecutive since 1998. Many consider Cook a veteran of the series, who has five-career wins, one of which came at TMM in 2002. Since switching to a Ford in 2001, Cook has never finished outside the top 10 at TMM. His average finish over the last five races at TMM is 5.8.

Starr Hangs Tough for 13th in Michigan 06-19-2006 12:31 am
The Con-way Freight 200 at Michigan International Speedway marked David Starr’s 150th start in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition. Honored by the milestone, Starr hoped that he would contend for a top spot at Michigan on a special day. But Starr would have his work cut out for him as the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota lined up 28th for the Con-way Freight 200.

Hamilton Jr., No 18 Dodge Review: Michigan 06-19-2006 12:20 am
Bobby Hamilton Jr.’s bad luck started early in the Con-Way Freight 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Hamilton Jr. was clipped in the right rear quarter panel by rookie David Ragan as the field stormed by the flag stand to complete lap 5.

Skinner's lap of 40.278 seconds/178.758 miles per hour in the No. 5 Toyota Tundra Toyota was good enough to handily beat the Wood/jtg Racing teammates Marcos Ambrose and Bobby East, who will start second and third respectively. Gaughan on Michigan: "I like Michigan a lot. It has what I've always called the Michigan Merge where you drive in behind somebody and then you peel off two hundred feet apart with one guy in the top groove and one guy on the bottom and then you come right back together on the race track from being so far apart that the spotter says, 'Well, he's down there but I don't know if you're clear or not' because you can't tell."

Hamilton Jr. Ready to Rebound at Michigan 06-13-2006 3:31 pm
Hamilton Jr. on MIS: "There is always good racing at Michigan because the racing surface is so wide. We just need to really concentrate on getting our Fastenal Dodge down low onto the racetrack. The racetrack has a lot of grip with a lot of different grooves."
